Poems of Illuminated Vision - Adam Holden

Another Life
As children, everything is desirable. We don’t understand adult stress; we only know we want to grow up, to be one of them. We look ahead, we reach, we strive. But as the years roll on, innocence fades, replaced by responsibilities. Responsibilities breed doubt. Doubt breeds aversion. Aversion breeds clinging, Clinging to what, Do you know?
Life mastery
In pages worn, where knowledge dwells,
A world unfolds, and wisdom tells.
With every line, a journey starts,
As thoughts ignite and touch our hearts.
From tales of old to truths anew,
Each word a thread, a vibrant hue.
In every book, a spark of light,
Illuminates the darkest night.
Do You Remember, Another Lifetime at the Edge of Infinity
Do you remember when I was you and you were me? When we existed on the other end of the cosmos, or perhaps in another universe? Because there has never been a moment when our spirit wasn’t connected to the great essence, the bottomless ocean of consciousness. We’ve just forgotten. Yet here we are, experiencing it all now. Look around—see the technology, the creations, the potent 26 letters, language, the sky, the trees, even the dead fly on the floor. It’s all empty. And yet, what is reality?
Reality is perception. What we see, hear, touch, smell, taste, feel, and think—these are our bridges between the outer world and the mind. All empty whether we cross those bridges or not. Because time and space are eternal, a perfect circle. But here’s the truth: the outside world is not separate from the mind. It is a reflection of it. You and I are the same. We are one. The way we label existence defines how we experience it. The senses, the mind, the world—these are not separate things.

In pages worn, where knowledge dwells,
A world unfolds, and wisdom tells.
With every line, a journey starts,
As thoughts ignite and touch our hearts.
From tales of old to truths anew,
Each word a thread, a vibrant hue.
In every book, a spark of light,
Illuminates the darkest night.
My Inner Child’s Pure Perception
As children, everything is desirable. We don’t understand adult stress; we only know we want to grow up, to be one of them. We look ahead, we reach, we strive. But as the years roll on, innocence fades, replaced by responsibilities. Responsibilities breed doubt. Doubt breeds aversion. Aversion breeds clinging, Clinging to what, Do you know? We stop trying to experience life and start trying to be right. Then we spend our energy trying not to be wrong. And before long, the illusion of status crumbles, and we find ourselves standing there—the fool who wasted a lifetime chasing something not really knowing what, something that could never be caught.
Life mastery
In pages worn, where knowledge dwells,
A world unfolds, and wisdom tells.
With every line, a journey starts,
As thoughts ignite and touch our hearts.
From tales of old to truths anew,
Each word a thread, a vibrant hue.
In every book, a spark of light,
Illuminates the darkest night.
Thanks for Nothing New Zealand
I am in the far far north of beautiful New Zealand, walking barefoot down the farm track to check the mailbox. It’s a narrow little road, scattered with grass, sand, rocks, and thorny prickles—no mercy for my feet. As I step onto the sun-scorched tar seal, the burning sensation jolts a memory from childhood. Back then, I never wore shoes, summer or winter, my soles hardened by countless barefoot adventures. This pain is nothing new. It will pass, just as it always has.
The mailbox is empty. Typical!
